My wife and I have been married for 25 yrs and have seven children that we raised on a small piece of acreage north of Sandpoint. We have been blessed to share our property with a variety of livestock, a wonderful garden, and are surrounded by beautiful views, and gracious neighbors. Living between Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint has allowed us to serve both communities in a variety of ways through the Church, and charitable organizations, as well as in our daily business. It has been an honor to have served the people of District 1 for the past 5 years, and I look forward to continuing to provide honest, experienced representation to our District for another term.
Small Business Owner
I am currently employed at a privately owned insurance broker, handling financial products and public sector accounts. Prior to this I owned my own small business for over 12 years, operating out of Sandpoint and working in most of Bonner and Boundary Counties. This experience gave me an opportunity to meet with a wide variety of people from all over District 1. Longtime residents, vacation home owners, homes on Lake Pend D’ Oreille, homes tucked away in the mountains, churches, schools, farms, ranches, wealthy business owners, and those struggling to make ends meet. Everyone was treated with the same honesty and integrity.
I first became active in politics in 2008 after attending the Republican convention in Sandpoint. In 2011, I was selected by The Bonner County Commissioners to be on the Property Rights Council, where I served as vice-chair. I was also the President of The Friends of Idaho, an NGO whose mission is to protect the Constitutional rights of Idaho and its citizens. In 2012, I was an unsuccessful candidate for Bonner County Commissioner. I was first elected to the State legislature in 2014, and have continued to serve in that capacity since then. While in the legislature I have been asked to serve on multiple Interim Committees, have been appointed Chairman of The House Business Committee and The House Ethics Committee. I also have been appointed by the Governor to serve on the Shared Stewardship Advisory Council, and serve as Chairman of the Federalism Committee within a national state legislator organization. In addition, I am the House of Representatives member on the Board of Directors for Your Health Idaho. Privately, I continually serve others in the Church in various capacities, have served as a speech and debate coach for the NCFCA, and have mentored many Idaho youth through the Patriot Academy.
